Star Boxing: Kevin Johnson - Vinny Maddalone

By Boxing Press November 10th, 2006 All Press Releases

Two Star boxers will make be making appearances this weekend, as heavyweights Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson and Vinny Maddalone, both members of Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing stable, will fight on separate shows.

Asbury Park, New Jersey’s undefeated future heavyweight champion Kevin Johnson (11-0-1, 5 KOs) will face Brooklyn journeyman Rodney Ray at Birchwood Manor in Whippany, New Jersey, on Friday, November 10.

Meanwhile, Flushing, New York’s favorite son, Vinny Maddalone (27-3, 19 KOs), will fight on the undercard of the Klitschko vs. Brock Heavyweight Championship fight at Madison Square Garden on November 11 against tough veteran Jeremy Bates.

Johnson’s six-round fight will take place on the KEA Boxing "Brawls at the Birchwood" event that is packed with New Jersey's top professional boxing talent.

Maddalone’s 8-rounder will be part of a stellar undercard in support of the HBO-televised “Night of the Heavyweights” IBF Heavyweight Championship battle between Wladimir Klitschko and Calvin Brock.

“We’ve got two of our guys in high-profile showcase fights this weekend,” says Star Boxing President Joe DeGuardia. “Kevin will be putting the awesome skills that will someday make him world champion on display in front of his home-state fans against an opponent who has only fought undefeated fighters and Vinny will bring his all-action style to a huge audience at the Garden. These are the types of fights that get people talking about our fighters and we’re happy to have secured the opportunities for them.”

Tickets for the KEA Boxing "Brawls at the Birchwood" event are priced at $100 for ringside (which includes a VIP cocktail hour with special boxing guests), $50 for preferred seating and $35 for general admission and are available online at www.roundcardmodels.com & www.brickcityboxing.com or by calling 973-931-8812 or 973-903-2907.

Tickets for “Night of the Heavyweights” can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden box office or by ordering tickets through TicketMaster by calling (212) 307-7171. Those who can't make the show can see it live in High Definition TV on HBO 10 pm ET/7 pm PT.
