Duva Boxing Threatening Legal Action!

By Boxing Press November 22nd, 2006 All Boxing Articles

Against Brian Minto, Axel Schulz and all German parties involved in Saturday’s proposed fight.

According to promoter Dino Duva of Duva Boxing, the fight proposed for Saturday at the Gerry Weber Stadion in Halle/Westfalen, Germany, between former heavyweight champion Axel Schulz and Brian “The Beast” Minto, as currently planned, would violate the promotional contract between Minto and Duva Boxing.

“If I don’t hear back from them, to enter into a settlement with all parties by tomorrow,” says Duva, “there will be major legal ramifications to all parties involved in Germany and the US, including Shulz’s promoters, the German Boxing Commission, and German television network RTL.”

Duva went on to say that he had received prior assurances from Shulz’s camp that they would honor the contract, but that it now appears that they are going back on their word, and he promises “serious legal repercussions” will be the result.

“It is a shame when people in this business do not honor contracts. Everyone has been put on notice for some time about Duva Boxing’s contract with Brian Minto. Obviously Brian has chosen to ignore our contract and I will deal with that legally in the US in due time, however, this proposed fight for Minto in Germany against Axel Schulz is a very big and risky fight and I cannot allow these parties to screw me in this manner. Duva Boxing should be getting paid for its promotional rights with Brian Minto and if Minto loses, there will be severe damages to Duva Boxing, considering all the money and time I’ve spent investing in his career to this point. I am hopeful the German authorities, RTL and Axel Schulz’s promoters are honorable enough to respect the contract I have with him. However, if I do not hear from them by tomorrow, November 21, 2006, I will be forced to take legal action trough German attorneys.
