Amasheh Defeats Perez To Capture WBC Silver Belt in Germany

Local hero Raja Amasheh won the vacant WBC Silver flyweight championship on Saturday night in front of 2,000 fans at Saarlandhalle in Saarbrucken, Germany, by beating former WBC Youth champion Susana Cruz Perez from Mexico by a hard fought ten round unanimous decision.

The fight was a lot closer than indicated by the scores of 97-92, 98-92 and 96-93 in favor of Amasheh. “La Pantera” Cruz started very aggressive, taking the fight to Amasheh, who needed a couple of rounds to adjust her game plan.

In the fourth round, referee Tonio Tiberi of Luxembourg deducted one point from Cruz Perez for repeated head butts. Unbeaten 31-year-old Amasheh finished strong and won the last rounds to secure a well deserved win.

By claiming the WBC Silver title, Amasheh may be in line to challenge WBC Champion Shindo Go from Japan later this year.

In the co-feature in Saarbrucken, Bernard “Ben” Donfack stopped Javier Alberto Mamani from Argentina in the tenth round to claim the WBF super middleweight championship.

On the undercard, Marco Martin (flyweight, MD4 against Patrik Bartos) and Senad Gashi (heavyweight, KO1 against David Liska) won their pro debuts while John Rene scored a unanimous decision over Ata Dogan and “Prince Lorenzo” from Togo made his opponent Sabri Ulas Goecmen retire on the stool after the third round.
