WBA Update: Golovkin vs. Geale Officials, Giacon Continental Champ

New York State Athletic Commission announced the officials for the super middleweight 160 pounds championship title fight of the World Boxing Association, Genady Golovkin and the number three rated contender Daniel Geale that will take place on Saturday at the Madison Square Garden.

Michael Ortega will referee the actions and the judges will be Julie Lederman, Don Trella and John Mckaie. Aurelio Fiengo will supervise the actions.

The champion, who has reigned since 2010, is still undefeated in 29 fights and has 26 KO’s. On the other hand, Geale has lost twice and has 36 victories, 16 of them by KO’s.

The Spaniard Luca Giacon became the new super lightweight 140 lb WBA Continental champion last Saturday. Giacon defeated the Brtt Stevie Williams by TKO in nine rounds, at the Centro Sportivo Comunale, Lombardia, Italy.

The new champion, with 25-1, 22 KO´s, dominated the actions of the fight, and cut his opponent, whose record now is 15-3, 5 KO´s.

The officials of this fight were Jan Christensen as referee, and the judges, Oliver Brien, Jesús García Morata and Lahcen Oumghar.
