Katsidis is currently in the United States to prepare for his first fight on American soil on February 2, 2007 live on ESPN 2. Katsidis will be facing a crafty and tough opponent in Osvaldo Lara 11 – 4 – 1 3KO’s Mexico City, Mexico. Lara in his last fight successfully defended his WBO Latino lightweight title against Miguel Angel Galindo.
Katsidis in his last three outings has not allowed his opponent to go beyond the fifth round. Katsidis destroyed both Jakkirt Suwunnalird and Guillermo Mosquera inside two rounds with devasting punching power. Nonoy Gonzales made it to the fifth round before Katsidis unleashed a barrage of punches sending him to the canvas to win the fight.
