Piriyapino Stops Redondo In Seven To Recapture WBO Regional Belt

Chonlatarn Or “Dangerous River” Piriyapinyo displayed power and poise in stopping Philippine challenger Jason Redondo in round seven and successfully captured the WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title on a M -150 OneSongchai Promotion at Thatthong Buddhist Temple High School in Wattana District, Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.

The contest was televised live on Channel 7 from 2 pm on as a full crowd came to pack the venue and watch this event.

The main event was a bout for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific featherweight crown between Chonlatarn Or Piriyapinyo and Jason Redondo, a close competitive fight until the seventh round when Piriyapinyo attacked with deadly combination punching that hurt Redondo, causing the referee to stop the fight after issuing a ten count.

After the fight, Piriyapinyo said he intentionally started slow and kept walking forward to focus on the accuracy of all the punches in his arsenal before stepping things up in the middle rounds and finishing the fight.

Piriyapinyo admitted to being very happy to regain his old title and is lookin forward to improve his form in the future. Defeated challenger Redondo said that he tried to hang in there until to the end of the fight, but that Piriyapinyo was too strong.

In other bouts on the card, “Machinery Gun” Puengluang Sor Singyu, a former WBO Bantamweight Champion, KO’d Petchchumpon Sor Visetkit in six rounds, “Elephant Fist” Kwanpichit SibsamrienExpress KO’d Taminkal Sor Tharntip in three rounds while OneSongchai Promotions’ rising star Raknirun Moudrunsarakam showed great form to KO Saensak Sor Visetkit in the first round.

Female boxer Yodying Superchamp won a six rounder against Jompon YingchonGym and closing the night, Petchjarus Mor Krungthepthonburi defeated Taksaporn Soonkilachalermprakiet, also over six rounds.

Furthermore, female promoter Pariyakorn Ratanasuban mentioned that “After seeing Chonlatarn display great form, I must admit that I have a heavy heart as for the challenger, who is also young and mounted a very good effort. I am very happy with Chonlatarn’s winning and congratulate him and want to say thank you to all the boxing fans who came out to cheer the fighters.”
