Dennis Lebedev and Youris Kalenga were face to face at Monday’s press conference in Moscow, for their WBA mandatory fight to determine the cruiserweight champion.
Both fighters, Lebedev (26-2, 20 KO’s) and Kalenga (21-1, 14 KO’s), made clear they are ready for their Friday, April 10 battle in Luzhnik Stadium, Moscow. They say they expect it to be a good fight and showed mutual respect.
Kalenga, interim champion, was born in Congo and later naturalized as French, won the belt on June 21, 2014 when he defeated Mateusz Masternak in Monaco by Split Decision.
While Lebedev has been the world champion since 2011, first interim title and then, in 2012 he held the regular Cruiserweight belt The officials appointed by the WBA are: Guillermo Pérez Pineda (PAN) as the referee. The judges are: Stanley Christodoulou (RSA), Leszek Jankowiak (POL) and Giuseppe Quartarone (ITA), with Renzo Bagnariol as supervisor.
The WBA family wants to express publically its words of gratitude to all the friends of the late Alberto Sarmiento, who was a member and director of the WBA.
His daughter Graciela took the task of expressing, on behalf of her relatives, their gratitude to "all the people who have expressed their love. I have no words to thank you on behalf of my family, of my Daddy. They are invaluable. Thanks a million".
