Let’s Get It On Promotions is back! Boxing’s most famous referee, television judge, and national personality Mills Lane and his two sons, Terry and Tommy, have put the company back in business and plan to start putting on fights soon.
Mills Lane is regarded as one of the best referees in boxing history. Lane officiated some of the biggest fights in recent history including Holmes-Cooney, Chavez-Taylor II, Tyson-Holyfield II – and many others. All of his fights were preceded by his famous trademark phrase “Let’s Get It On!” Lane is excited about working with his sons at becoming involved in professional boxing again. According to company representatives, Lane will act as chief advisor to the company while his sons handle the day to day operations.
The former Let’s Get It On Promotions consisted of a partnership between Lane and promoter Tony Holden. The company experienced a successful two-year run, but all was halted when Lane suffered a debilitating stroke in 2002.
The new Let’s Get It On Promotions operates out of Reno, NV, and was granted a license to promote professional boxing by the Nevada State Athletic Commission in 2006. They intend to start promoting shows in Northern Nevada this summer. Let’s Get It On Promotions is also negotiating exclusive agreements with a number of fighters. According to representatives, they plan on signing 3 to 5 fighters within the next year.
