Nicholas Walters Receives WBA “Super” Championship Title Belt

Jamaica’s Nicholas Walters received his World Boxing Association featherweight super championship belt that he will defend at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, United States.

Walters, accompanied by his representative Patrick Buteau, received the belt from the hands of the WBA representatives Gustavo Padilla and Julio Thyme during a private ceremony held at the headquarters of the universal entity in Panama.

The champion will travel on Monday to the United States where he will defend his defeated record and his belt against the experienced Colombian fighter Miguel Marriaga. “We have worked much in different areas, technique, speed in feet and hands,” said Walters, who hopes to give a great show to his fans once again.

This will be Walters’ first fight in 2015, after he defeated Nonito Donaire and Vic Darchinyan last year. He has 21 KOs in 25 victories and this will be his fourth defense of the title that he won in Jamaica, in December 2012 against Daulis Prescott.
The challenger is also unbeaten after 22 fights with 19 KOs.
