British Masters and Central Area super-bantamweight champion Gary Davis will top the bill at Stoke’s Kings Hall on 24 February when he takes on Jamil Hussain in a contest of six three minute rounds. The likeable scouser made his last outing in September also at the Kings Hall when he drew with Nottingham’s Barrington Brown.

Davis, with a record of 4 wins 2 losses and 1 draw and ranked at 7 in the British super-bantamweight division by respected trade magazine “Boxing Monthly’, will need to be on top form to overcome the Bradford man. Hussain, ranked at 8 in the bantamweight division by the same publication, boasts a record of 3 wins 2 losses and 2 draws. Hussain’s most recent loss coming against former Commonwealth and IBO World champion Jason Booth.

Additionally, both Davis and Hussain have displayed a propensity to finish off opponents within the distance, Davis having scored three of his victories and Hussain two of his wins by knockout. Fans should expect to see fireworks from both men therefore.

“Its great to be in Stoke again,” said Davis. “The fans there gave me a fantastic reception last time and the Kings Hall is one of the best boxing venues in the country with and amazing atmosphere. I’ve got more notice this time and expect at least 200 of my fans to follow me down from Liverpool this time as well.”

“I can promise the fans that I will live up to the top billing and give them a performance worth watching. I’m ready to move my career forward now and need to keep busy; I want to defend my Central Area title soon and challenge for the English Title before the end of this year.”

Mick Carney of promoters, Impact Boxing, added: “Gary is a very exciting fighter and I am delighted that he has agreed to return to Stoke. His bout against Jamil Hussain has the potential to be a classic because both men have the potential to upset the other. I suspect that the fans will be thoroughly entertained by this match.”

Former Welsh ABA light-heavyweight champion Justin “Ritchie’ Jones now based in Burslem, Alsager’s Aaron Thomas and Tunstall’s Jimmy Doherty make up the local representation on the undercard. Newark’ A A Lowe and Chester’s Chris Goodwin complete the line-up.
