Boxing Tickets: Israel Vazquez - Rafael Marquez

By Boxing Press February 26th, 2007 All Press Releases

Tickets in all price ranges remain for Saturday’s terrific fight card at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Priced at $25, $50, $75, $100, $150 and $200, they are on sale at all TicketMaster outlets and on-line at TicketMaster.com. Tickets also may be purchased at The Home Depot Center box office from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and on Fight Day starting at 10 a.m.

The main event of a seven-bout card is a highly anticipated fight-fans’ dream match-up between streaking Mexico City-born superstars, World Boxing Council (WBC)/The Ring magazine super bantamweight champion Israel Vazquez and International Boxing Federation/International Boxing Organization (IBF/IBO) bantamweight titleholder Rafael Marquez.

The 12-round bout between Vazquez (41-3, 31 KOs), universally recognized as the most talented and exciting in the world at 122 pounds, and the hard-hitting Marquez (36-3, 32 KOs), the planet’s most feared boxer-slugger at 118, will be for Vazquez’s belt.

Vazquez has won nine in a row, seven by knockout. He is managed by Frank Espinoza and promoted by Sycuan Ringside Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions. Marquez, a winner of 15 straight, 12 by knockout, is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, and Romanza Productions.

In the co-main event, GSP’s popular, pint-sized powerhouse, undefeated, hard-hitting southpaw IBF/IBO flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan (26-0, 21 KOs) defends against former IBF champion and current top-ranked contender Victor Burgos (39-14-3, 23 KOs).

The live program will begin at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3:30. Darchinyan-Burgos will go at 6 o’clock, followed by Vazquez-Marquez. The world championship fights will be televised on SHOWTIME (9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).
