Jamie Moore Heads Up Napa - Maludrottu Boxing Undercard

By Boxing Press March 3rd, 2007 All Press Releases

Jamie Moore is a busy man who wants to be even busier. The 28 year old recently became a father for the second time and is combining his new parental responsibilities with ensuring his promising boxing career goes into overdrive.

Moore, 25-3 (18KOs), the British Light Middleweight titleholder, meets Mugurel Sebe 10-36-2 (3KOs) as the chief support bout to the hugely anticipated clash between Simone Maludrottu and Ian Napa for the European Bantamweight title.

Italian resident Maludrottu, 24-1 (10KOs), and Hackney resident Napa, 13-5 (0 KOs) meet at Dagenham’s Goresbrook Leisure Centre on 9 March which suits Moore perfectly. Moore considers the venue his “happy hunting ground” as he is yet to be beaten there and is eager to add to his already impressive record at his favourite spot.

This bout is the start of a busy programme for the new father who has two fights scheduled in a little over five weeks. The lively Mancunian’s following bout will be in his home city on 13 April as he relentlessly marches towards a World title.

“I hope to give to an impressive performance before targeting a World title,” said Moore. “These two fights are important to get rid of any residual ring rust and I need to keep my foot on the gas and boost my earnings now that my family has got bigger.”

Moore’s “ring rust” is a reference to his phenomenal performance when defeating the talented Matthew Macklin in September 2006 when, unbeknown to the public, he was carrying a shoulder injury that required surgery just three days after the bout.

The 9 March show also sees Portsmouth’s Tony Oakey 22-2 (5KOs) the former WBU Light Heavyweight champion take on Croatia’s Josip Jalusic 7-6-1 (6 KOs). Oakey has won his past three bouts since a points defeat by Peter Haymer in June 2005 and has his eye firmly on the British Light Heavyweight title.

Henry Castle 14-3 (8KOs) looks to continue his winning ways following his defeat of Wolverhampton’s Carl Allen in Leeds on 9 February. The Salisbury resident meets Walsall’s Steve Gethin 10-29-2 (6 KOs) as he continues to punch his way towards a dream meeting with Carl Johanneson, the British Super Featherweight champion, in June.

Many eyes will be on Scott Belshaw, the 6’7” Irishman who his won all four of his bouts to date in outstanding style. Belshaw, 21, who is increasing referred to as “a man who was born to punch” takes on Nikolai Marinov who is sure to have his hands full against the likeable Lisburn resident.

Frank Maloney Promotions presents “When Opportunity Knocks’ at Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, London, England on March 9, 2007. Tickets are available by logging onto www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office at 0871 226 1508 or televised live on Sky TV. If you can’t make it to the fight watch it live on Sky TV!
