European bantamweight champion Simone Maludrottu has landed in England prior to his showdown with Hackney man Ian Napa this Friday, March 2 at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in London.
Maludrottu, the "Sardinian Silencer", has won his last 18 contests, including six straight European title defenses and promises to leave his mark on challenger Napa.
"I came to Ireland last year and beat Damaen Kelly but now I am in England and will punish Ian Napa for daring to challenge me," said the Italian.
"I am the best bantamweight in the world and will show everyone that I will be world champion. It is just a matter of time and I will make an example of this Englishman."
Ian Napa has dropped controversial decisions to British champion Martin Power, Mark Callaghan and Damaen Kelly but has vowed that he will rip the European title from Maludrottu and send the Italian back home empty handed.
Frank Maloney Promotions present "When Opportunity Knocks", the Ian Napa - Simone Maludrottu European bantamweight championship on Friday, March 9, 2007 at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, London.
