Although just 21 years of age, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has racked up 30 wins against no losses and a draw since turning pro in September 2003. The son of one of the all-time best Mexican fighters was in action last night at the Dodge Arena in Hildalgo, TX and made short work of opponent Raul Munoz in less than three rounds at welterweight.
The 5 foot 11 inch tall Chavez Jr. attacked his journeyman rival with his usual abandon. Munoz was forced to go defensive to survive the storm but tasted the floor in the second.
By the third frame, the chinny Kansas native, 19-11-1 (15), was in dire straits and was floored for good by a sledgehammer right hand from Chavez Jr.at the round's midway point.
With the victory, Chavez Jr. edges closer to a world title challenge after just three and a half years as a professional.
On the undercard, featherweight southpaw Fernando Beltran Jr. upped his record to 29-2-1 (17) with a ten round unanimous decision over Baudel Cardenas, 16-9-2 (6).
