Saturday night, at the King’s Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, Carl Greaves Promotions and Scott Lawton hosted a show which featured five bouts of professional boxing, food and entertainment.

In the headliner, Josh Groombridge of Uttoxeter made short work of Telford’s Kieron Gray – scoring a first round KO. Gray was caught by a clubbing shot round the ear and fell to his knees, then was on the canvas a second time just moments later and did not make it up in time for the count.

Other action included points’ wins for Luke Jones of Chasetown and Chris Nixon of Stoke-on-Trent, while debutant – Aron Canning of Wrexham scored a first round TKO with opponent, Neylon, on the canvas twice.

The drama of the night occurred during the fight between Stoke boxer - Wade Armour and Stockport man – Jamie Quinn. It had turned in to a decent scrap when, during the fourth and final round, the fire alarm started to ring out around the venue. Everyone was evacuated, waiting outside on the car-park for ten minutes till it was deemed safe to re-enter the venue. Much deliberation ensued afterwards amongst officials, the fight then announced as a ‘No Contest’.
