Russian heavyweight, Sultan Ibragimov claimed his first victory of 2007 after destroying the Mexican fighter, Javier Mora with a spectacular 46 second knockout in the first round Saturday, March 10. The battle between Ibragimov and Mora was promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Seminole Warrior Boxing and Golden Grain Promotions and took place at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY.
“Congratulations Sultan! There’s nothing more exciting in boxing than a great heavyweight fight, with two big guys going to war,” said Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions.
“Ibragimov is our first Heavyweight at Golden Boy Promotions and I believe he is future of this division. He has the skill, power, heart and determination to beat anyone in the world at this point.”
“Having a world heavyweight champion on the Golden Boy team is a dream come true,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “Sultan had a great fight on March 10th and an incredible victory over Mora.”
Ibragimov is now 20-0-1 18 KO’s and is looking forward to his next fight against with Shannon Briggs to settle once and for all who is the real WBO World Champion.
