The fans have turned out in record numbers to watch welterweights Delvin Rodriguez (20-1-1, 12KO) and Jesse Feliciano (14-5-3, 8KO) lock horns for the USBA Welterweight Championship this Friday, March 23rd, at the sold-out Fox Theater.
This bout is promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and will be televised live on ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights” starting at 9:00 PM/ET.
Born in the Dominican Republic, 26-year-old Delvin Rodriguez moved to his adopted hometown of Danbury, CT at the age of 10. A dedicated father and hungry boxer on the cusp of stardom, Rodriguez has matinee idol looks that belie his profession. In the ring, he’s a warrior with a one-track mind: seek and destroy—he has the highlight reels to prove it. He has been undefeated since 2003, and has KO’d five of his last six opponents. An impressive victory over the hard- nosed Feliciano brings him a step closer to challenging for a major world title in 2007.
Feliciano, who in 2006 bested former IBF Jr. Welterweight Champion Vince Phillips, and dueled to a draw with “The Contender” star Alphonso Gomez, says he’s prepared himself for this challenge like never before; he can’t wait to derail the Rodriguez express.
Rodriguez vs. Feliciano is a can’t-miss action-fight between two offensive-minded bangers who hate letting a bout go to the judges. Friday March 23rd, live on ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights” @ 9:00 PM/ET. You don’t want to miss it!
