In light of the breakdown in communications between promoter Don King and light middleweight champion Ronald "Winky" Wright, the possibility of fresh opponents for Trinidad opens up as a possibility. in March, the initially projected date for the fight. King recently capped off the disappointment of the Wright negotiations by announcing that he aims to have Trinidad fight again in April. Late last year, Germany's Felix Sturm was seen as a potential frontrunner to fight Trinidad in the New Year and appeared to have tuned up well for the fight by stopping former world champion Hassine Cherifi in three rounds.
