Scottsdale, Arizona, April 9, 2007 – Hall of Fame and Boxing Legend, Roberto Duran rebels in any good fight inside a boxing ring, but not in untruths and verbal fights outside the ring. In an effort to set the record straight about a April 3, 2007 Press Release that erroneously reports Bobby Bostick has announced the signing of WBC number two ranked welterweight contender Julio Cesar “Baby Face” Garcia , Duran released today the following DRL statement.

“First of all, I have never heard of Bobby Bostick and neither has Julio,” said Duran, who added the 19-year-old sensation is currently in Panama training for a June fight. Duran, who works with DRL Promotions with company owners Dan Wise and Luis DeCubas, said DRL re-signed Garcia earlier this year through Garcia’s management company Santa Barbara Management. Santa Barbara and DRL have garnered Garcia national TV exposure on Fox TV and ESPN the past year and maneuvered Garcia to a position where he has the option of fighting an elimination match for the WBC welterweight championship.

“I am going to protect this kid, because I was not protected when I was a young fighter,” said Duran. “I am not going to let the same thing happen to Garcia that happened to me. Money was taken from me throughout my career and it was not until I was managed by Luis De Cubas that I earned millions of dollars. And that was when I was an old man. Luis, Dan Wise and I will make sure Julio is protected in the ring and out.”

Duran noted that Garcia’s previous management team pocketed a majority of Garcia’s first promotional signing bonus. “This kid has been fleeced once and it won’t happen again,” Duran said. “I will personally see to it that nobody interferes with his career.”
