Emmett Linton (32-3-2, 15KOs) and Marcos Primera (17-8-2, 11 KOs) will battle it out on Saturday night at the thirty-fourth installment of the Battle at the Boat series. Linton is attempting to make a re-appearance to the “top ten” list of middleweights and has had plenty of experience in the ring which may work to his advantage in the ten-round fight with Primera. “Emmett has always been a crowd favorite,” promoter Brian Halquist said, “this will be a great show of his skills”. Primera’s manager, Steve Tannenbaum, said his boxer has had some tough breaks in the past, but, Marcos has changed his training rituals. “He would often train for fights by hanging a heavy bag from a tree”, said Tannenbaum. Primera’s sports a 150-11 amateur record with 80 KO’s.
Kevin Johnson (6-0-1, 4 KOs) will be meeting Will Cook (7-1-0, 5KOs) in and eight round heavyweight explosion. Promoter Brian Halquist wants to get a better look at Johnson, possibly signing him to a promotional contract. “I want to put him in a tough fight,” said Halquist. “Cook will give him that.” The undercard bouts feature Othello fighter, and Tacoma crowd pleaser, David Torres (6-0-0, 4KOs) fighting Michael Haley (0-1-0); Featherweight Darby Smart (5-0) is back in town to meet Tacoman Sabino Rosario (3-4-0). Eric Aiken (11-2, 8 KOs) will battle Terrence Roy (6-9-0) in a six round featherweight match-up and both Tony Redman and Leslie Watson will be making their pro-debuts in a super middleweight match-up, with only one coming out with a check mark in the win column.
