Boxing Press Conference Quotes: Stevie Johnston, Adrian Mora

By Boxing Press May 18th, 2007 All Press Releases

Silverhawk Boxing presents “Rocky Mountain Mayhem: Return of the Champ” tonight at the Broomfield Event Center, in Broomfield, CO. In the main event, ex-WBC Lightweight champ Stevie Johnston puts his IBA crown on the line against Humberto Toldeo.

Stevie Johnston: “I know (Humberto) Toledo comes to fight. I don’t know much about him. I will just be smart and box. If you look for a knockout, it never comes. I just box “em.

"Just running to the car to get my belt, I felt the altitude. I knew I had to be here to train. Homebody is pretty tough so we will have to see. It means everything to be fighting in front of my hometown fans.”

Adrian Mora: “I’ve prepared to go 12 hard rounds and if it goes the distance that’s cool. I’m trying to make my way on to the national level. I do want to go back to 135 (pounds) sometime, though, maybe after this fight.”

Marc Thompson: “I have no worries about fighting in (Mora) his hometown. I’m here to put on a good show for the fans. I’m just going to do what I do best and that’s box. I’m going to work to get inside of his reach, get inside, just like (Mike) Tyson used to do. Get inside and go to work.”

Salvador Camacho: “I don’t feel any pressure to keep my knockout streak alive, but I used to. Now my coach tells me to box. I never look for the knockout and I’m prepared to go all the rounds I’m scheduled. There just haven’t been many guys who could make it to the end.

I’m ready for eight or 10 rounds. I don’t know how he (Rob Adamson) takes a punch, so it’s really up to him if it goes the distance. I’d love to fight Chavez, Jr., but it’s not up to me. It’s up to my management and his management. But I’d love to fight him.”

Jaime Sandoval: “I follow my own path (not his brother Jesus Chavez’). There’s no pressure. I love the sport. I don’t know much about (his opponent Johnnie) Edwards. I heard he is a great fighter coming up to 126 pounds. I’m in great shape. It’s going to be a good fight. I have the style to keep him on the outside; lot of movement and keep outside with the jab.”

Tickets: $25.00, $40.00, $60.00 and $100.00 (excluding service charge). Call 303.410.8497 or www.broomfieldeventcenter.com
