British Boxing: Frank Maloney’s Summer Madness!

By Simon Jackson June 13th, 2007 All Boxing Articles

Frank Maloney has announced two great shows for British boxing fans in the lead up to the summer holidays. A new venue for Sky’s Friday Fight Night is introduced as Martin Power clashes with Jason Booth to decide the British Bantamweight title on July 6 at Wigan’s Robin Park Arena.

Also sharing the top billing is Britain’s best light middleweight Jamie Moore who fights South Africa's Vincent Vuma in a 12 round international.

Jamie continues his search for a major title in his second top-class international fight of the year when he meets Vuma who will be looking to set his European record straight following his loss to Reda Zam Zam in Copenhagen four years ago.

The action continues at Barnsley seven days later when British super featherweight champion Carl Johanneson seeks sweet revenge over Leva Kirakosyan. Johanneson’s sole loss in the past four year was to the Armenian born 33 year old and sparks will fly when the pair meet to decide the European super featherweight title on July 13.

Johanneson, 28, must still be glowing with pride following his outstanding performance in Leeds on February 9 when he out pointed the talented Ricky Burns in front of his own hometown fans.

This thriller is supported by the reappearance of the highly regarded John Fewkes who can cope admirably at lightweight and light welterweight. Fewkes is probably the most skilful boxer in Britain today and is now on the verge of his first professional title.

People in the know consider him to be boxing’s new Terry Marsh and for those who don’t remember Terry or his outstanding record he was the former IBF light welterweight champion.

Tickets are available for both shows by logging onto www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office at 0871 226 1508. The fight is also televised live on Sky TV. For any further press information please call 02086914165.
