“Summer Sizzle” Next 8 Count Boxing Card In Chicago

By Boxing Press June 17th, 2007 All Press Releases

Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions has announced details of "Summer Sizzle", their next world class, action packed evening of professional boxing set for Friday, July 13 at the newly remodeled, fully air conditioned Congress Theater in downtown Chicago.

Headlining the evening is a super featherweight ten round bout between undefeated Oxnard, California native Jose Aguiniga and tough Dominican veteran Francisco Lorenzo.

Aguiniga, 31-0 (14KO’s), born and raised in Aurora, IL, is coming off a win over former world title challenger Joe Morales on April 27 in Houston, Texas.

A staple of Solo Boxeo broadcasts since turning pro at the age of 18, Aguiniga’s seven year career includes wins over Andres Ledesma, Hugo Ramirez, Alex Baba and Cristobal Cruz. This is his second Chicago appearance, his first being a first knockout of Isidro Tejedor at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin in 2001.

Lorenzo, 28-4 (14KO’s), should prove to be the toughest test of Aguiniga’s career as the upset minded veteran has won nine of his last ten, the only loss being a very close split decision to Roman Martinez in Puerto Rico this past February.

Lorenzo is coming off a twelve round decision over Cristobal Cruz on April 13 at Cicero Stadium, a repeat of his win over Cruz on December 1, 2006, also at Cicero Stadium. His seven year career includes a win over former world title challenger Nate Campbell and he has gone the distance with world champion Juan Diaz.

The outstanding undercard features Chicago fan favorites’ bantamweight Francisco Rodriguez, 8-1 (6KO’s) and super bantamweight Ivan Rodriguez, 7-3-1 (3KO’s) in separate bouts.

Also making his return to the 8 Count ring is popular Polish junior middleweight prospect Andrzej Fonfara, 5-1 (1KO).

Two newcomers featured in four round bouts are undefeated Irish junior middleweight prospect Henry Coyle, 2-0 (2KO’s) and George Esho, who will be making his pro debut.

Much more information on this event will be announced shortly.

The Master of Ceremonies for "Summer Sizzle" will be the internationally recognized voiceof Latino boxing, Lupe Contreras.

The open to the public weigh-in for this event will be held at Chicago’s Club Aquarius at 7pm on Thursday, July 12. Club Aquarius, featuring some of the finest Mexican food in Chicago, is located at 2459 N. Pulaski on the Northwest Side of Chicago.

Tickets for this event can be purchased in advance by calling the 8 Count Productions office at 312-226-5800.

The Congress Theater is conveniently located minutes from downtown Chicago at 2135 N. Milwaukee, just one mile west of the Kennedy Expressway by way of the Armitage Ave. exit. For additional information, please visit their website at www.congresschicago.com

"Summer Sizzle" is presented by 8 Count Productions and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated along with TCF Bank and Tecate Beer. The Solo Boxeo broadcast will be viewed in more than 42 US markets and 70 foreign countries.
