Juan Carlos Martinez Added To Next 8 Count Boxing Card

ByBoxing Press 26/06/2007

Undefeated super featherweight prospect Wilton Hilario will face Juan Carlos Martinez in the eight round co-main event on Friday July 13 at Chicago’s Congress Theater as part of “Summer Sizzle”, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions.

Born in the Dominican Republic, now living in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Hilario, 8-0 (7KO’s) has quickly made a name in boxing with his exciting, all action style since turning pro two years ago. The 24 year old is coming off a decision win over former world title challenger Luis Bolano on April 6, 2007. This is Hilario’s third Chicago appearance with stunning knockouts of Jesse King and Jeremy Marts included on his perfect record.

The 25 year old Martinez, 7-4 (4KO’s), a native of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, now living in Chicago is coming off a decision win over Juan Jaramillo on June 16 at the Harrah’s Casino in Metropolis, Illinois. Prior to that Martinez thrilled the crowd at Cicero Stadium with a second round knockout of Ken Humphreys on March 16, 2007.

Said Pesoli, “Both of these young prospects have put on terrific performances on our shows in the past and this should be a great fight for our fans. We’ve got seven fights on this card featuring some of the best prospects in boxing.”

About the Congress Theater, Pesoli said, “It’s a perfect place for boxing. They’ve removed most of the theater style seats and we’ll be able to set up the ring up with a terrific view from every seat.”

The full “Summer Sizzle” card is as follows;

    Chris Billam Smith fighting for Zuffa for the first time this Saturday. I think he is being set up to face Jai Opetia later in the contract. Chris got easily beaten by Zurdo in a unification and we all kn […]

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
    For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]

    Jai Opetaia Says Boxing Rewards Talk More Than Skill This has long been a thought of mine, but of course it’s always refreshing when an actual boxer says it. Jai is obviously considered by most to be the top dog at cruiser, a division which unfortunately lacks the big names. Surely avoided by many. It could be speculated that at some point Jai could follow t […]
