Danish super featherweight prospect Kim “Golden Boy” Poulsen will not get to box in July as originally planned. The show in Berlin where he was scheduled to fight on July 6 got cancelled when the main event ticket-seller was injured. Risum Boxing have frantically searched for a new show to put Poulsen on, but without luck.
“It is very unfortunate, but just one of those things we all have to deal with some times in boxing. Under the circumstances it was not possible to find a new show for Kim, so we have agreed that he takes his break and vacation as planned, and then he will return after the summer,” says manager Henrik Risum.
Poulsen was of course disappointed but also composed when he was informed of the news, saying: “Of course it’s a shame when we have spend so much time in the gym and then there is no fight, but I don’t worry too much about it. I know a situation like this will come for me sooner or later, and I have tried many times in the amateurs to train for a fight and then have it cancelled.
“I know Henrik did his best to find a new show for me, but I also know that you can’t just pick a show and then go and fight on it. There are many factors to be considered, and this time it couldn’t be worked out. Bad luck, but that’s how it is!”
Poulsen last fought on May 12 winning a unanimous decision over Josef Holub from the Czech Republic, and Risum Boxing is aiming at his next fight to be sometime in September.
