Berry Butler and Torsten May Join Forces in Cologne, Germany

By Boxing Press July 6th, 2007 All Press Releases

By Brian Kennedy

American Light Heavyweight contender Berry Butler has recruited 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist Torsten May to work the corner for his 6 round bout with Haxhi Krasniqi on July 7th on the Klitschko vs Brewster under card. Father Uli May will also help out in the corner.

May retired in April of 2001 with a professional record of 22-3 12kos. As a veteran of two IBF world title fights, he brings a wealth of experience to the table. He is the brother of crusierweight contender Rudiger May (44-5-3 10kos), who is on the comeback trail and fights on the card.

As a fighter, Butler is no stranger to Germany where he has fought seven times since 2001 and compiled a record of 6-1 5kos. He has also been a part of training camps for German fighters like Henry Maske, Sven Ottke, Marcus Beyer and more.

Thanks to the continued support of long-time friend Arnd Dohmen in Germany, Butler continues to stay busy while fighting on big exposure cards like Klitschko vs. Brewster. Dohmen has been instrumental in helping Berry Butler turn the heat up on the division and look for a future assault on the European light heavyweight champions.

While we expect a good effort from Haxhi Krasniqi, we also believe that he is outclassed in this one. Since this fight is in Germany, we are concerned about the judges and referee assigned to the fight. But with Butler's respectful status among the boxing community in Germany, we expect a fair shake and anticipate a solid performance from Killa Bee.
