Fighting Drugs

By Boxing Press July 24th, 2007 All Press Releases

In a world full of negativity, the WBA’s annual KO to Drugs event is a shining light for those looking for some positive news and to see one of boxing’s most influential entities giving back to the community.

This year, Seminole Warriors Boxing and its highly touted featherweight contender, Adailton De Jesus, will show their support by participating in the event, which is scheduled for August 16th at the Figali Convention Center in Panama City, Panama.

De Jesus will fight in a 12 round WBA elimination bout against hometown hero Roinet Caballero.

“This is a great event and we fully support the WBA in their efforts to knock out drugs,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing. “And not only is this a great cause, but the fans will be seeing an exciting title eliminator between two rising stars in De Jesus and Caballero. It should be a night to remember.”

A native of Salvador, Brazil, 28-year old Adailton De Jesus (19-1, 17 KOs) is a knockout artist who has thrilled fight fans both at home and in the United States since turning pro in 2002. Winner of bouts against standouts Reynaldo Hurtado and previously unbeaten Noe Bolanos.

“De Jesus suffered the only loss of his career via a very controversial decision to Marcos Ramirez in May, but he has been training harder than ever for his bout against Caballero, and he is looking forward to showing some new wrinkles in his game come August 16th, said De Jesus’ Advisor, Sampson Lewkowicz

Boquete native Roinet Caballero (21-7-1, 16 KOs) had some rough times in his early years as a pro, but since 2005, he has been unstoppable, winning 12 fights in a row, with only one opponent able to last the 12 round distance. The WBO Latino featherweight champion, Caballero has defended the crown four times, and is coming off a fifth round stoppage of Carlos Rivas on June 16.
