Impact Boxing: Buckley And Godwin On September 29 Bill In Stoke

By Boxing Press July 27th, 2007 All Press Releases

Chester based novices Kevin Buckley and Chris Goodwin will both appear on Impact Boxing's next event which is scheduled for 29 September at Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke.

Opponents have yet to be secured for the duo who will be presented as part of the undercard to Stoke's Scott Lawton's English lightweight title defence against West Bromwich's Dean Hickman.

Goodwin has fought in the city twice previously but it will be Buckley's first appearance on an Impact promoted bill. Both Goodwin and Buckley now expect to become regulars on the well attended Potteries fight-nights.

18 year old welterweight Goodwin, 2-1, although still very green, has already shown glimpses of his potential in front of the knowledgeable Stoke crowd and is set to become a firm favourite with both the locals and his own significant travelling supporters.

Buckley, trained by brother Peter, campaigns at super-featherweight and is undefeated in his first three professional starts. The Chester youngster, scoring a four round points victory over Tony McQuade earlier this month on the undercard of the televised Colin Lynes/Young Mutley European and British light-welterweight clash, received rave reviews from the Sky TV commentary team.

If Buckley can continue to produce such accomplished performances the Stoke public are in for a real treat.

Over recent months close links have been forged between Stoke based Impact Boxing and the Chester boxers management team and both camps are looking forward to working closely together in the future. Co-operation will include Impact promoting the Chester stable and sharing of coaching facilities.

Steve Goodwin, father and coach of Chris, said: "we have been very impressed with Impact Boxing. They put on very well run shows in Stoke and have been very professional in all of their dealings with us. I am delighted that we are going to be working with them regularly from now on."

Tickets for the event are priced at £25 and £45 for ringside seats. A limited number of concessionary tickets for under 14's are also being made available for the first time and will be priced at £10. Tickets are available from Impact Boxing on 0845 156 7168 or by visiting www.impactboxing.com
