Sechew Powell Joins Seminole Warriors Boxing and Bad DogBy Boxing Press July 28th, 2007 All Press ReleasesA native of the same Brooklyn neighborhood that produced former world champions Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, junior middleweight contender Sechew Powell has shown the talent and desire to one day join those championship ranks, and Seminole Warriors Boxing and Bad Dog Productions are proud to announce that “The Iron Horse” is the latest standout to join their team as he continues on his quest for greatness. “I’m ready to take the next step in my career, and I’m confident that my new promotional team will get me there,” said Powell, who was signed to a multi-fight promotional deal. “The rest is up to me, and believe me, I’m ready to get back in the ring and show the world what “The Iron Horse” is all about.” “Sechew Powell is one of the best fighters to come out of New York in years, and he’s proven that he’s ready for the top fighters in the junior middleweight division,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing. “We’re going to get him back in the ring as soon as possible, keep him busy, and be by his side when he brings that world title belt back home to Brooklyn.” The 28-year old Powell (21-1, 12 KOs), a former amateur star with close to 150 wins that included a National Golden Gloves championship, and 5 United States Amatuer Championships. Sechew turned pro in 2002 with a second round stoppage of Aundalen Sloan. In the ensuing years, the southpaw Powell has thrilled fight fans with his talent, scoring wins over “The Contender’ season two winner, Grady Brewer, stopping Cornelius Bundrage in a single round, and decisioning former world title challenger Robert Frazier over ten rounds. The popular Powell holds the record with 5 appearances on Showtime’s Shobox series.
