By Boxing Press September 4th, 2007 All Press Releases

Puerto Rican prospect Mike Gonzalez heads to New York City this Wednesday night, September 5 to face unbeaten lightweight Jorge Teron in an eight round featured lightweight bout at a special “Black Tie” edition of Broadway Boxing presented by DiBella Entertainment and Gallagher Productions at Cipriani’s Wall Street in Manhattan.

The heavy handed Gonzalez brings a record of 10-1-1 (9KO’s) into the fight against the Bronx native Teron who sports a record of 17-0-1 (11KO’s).

Speaking Monday from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport while waiting to board his plane to New York City, Gonzalez said about the matchup, “He’s taller than I am so I’m going to have to get inside to offset his reach advantage. I’ll get to the body then work my way upstairs.”

About fighting for the first time in New York City, Gonzalez stated, “I lived in the Bronx many years ago, it will great to fight in front of the New York City fans.”

In regards to his previous bout against Robert Frankel, Gonzalez concluded, “Doesn’t matter what I think, the judges called it for him. But I’m back in business and I’ll be ready to crack on Wednesday night.”

Gonzalez is coming off a ten round war against Robert Frankel on June 21 at the San Miguel Casino in Highlands, California. Although the aggressor for the duration of the fight, the judges scored a split decision loss for the Bayamon, Puerto Rico native, now living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Prior to his battle with Frankel, Gonzalez had stunned the crowd at the Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria, Illinois with a devastating fifth round knockout of Jaime Alvarez on April 7, 2007.

Mike Gonzalez is promoted by Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions.

Tickets to Broadway Boxing presented by DiBella Entertainment and Gallagher Productions at Cipriani’s Wall Street in Manhattan can be obtained by calling 212-624-9363.

The next 8 Count Productions world class boxing event, "Pride" takes place on Friday, September 14th at the Congress Theatre. For tickets please call 312-226-5800 or visit their website at www.8countproductions.com
