From WBC President Jose Sulaiman:
The WBC has granted permission to interim lightweight world champion Joel Casamayor to defend the interim title before fighting WBC lightweight world champion David Diaz, as per his petition.
David Diaz will be free to make an optional defense of his title, and then both champions will meet for the undisputed WBC lightweight title.
