Javier Castillejo vs Mariano Carrera II appears to be on for Universum´s show in Halle / Westfalen October 20. Carrera won the WBA 160 lb title from Castillejo in one of best fights last year but tested positive for an illegal substance and the fight was declared a No Contest, Castillejo kept the title but then lost it to Felix Sturm, who makes his mandatory defence against Randy Griffin in the headliner of this show.
Carrera is now off the suspension, denies any wrongdoing and have been in training in Venezuela. The rematch is a crossroads fight for both and the winner is likely to get Sturm.
Team Palle writes in a press release that cruiser Johny Jensen, in case of a clear and impressive win over Louis Del Valle on Friday in Horsens, will get a shot at WBO ruler Enzo Maccarinelli on the undercard to Kessler vs Calzaghe November 3.
It´s official: Alexander Povetkin vs Chris Byrd in a IBF heavyweight eliminator October 27 in Erfurt. On the same show, European ruler Sebastian Sylvester fights Italian Simone Rotolo in a voluntary defence. The undercard features super middle Mads Larsen, cruiser Yoan Pablo Hernandez and heavyweight Rene Dettweiler.
Colin Lynes defends the European 140 lb title against Italian Gianluca Branco November 9 in Italy on a site to be determined.
Nikola Stevanovic fight Belgian Cedric Charlier for the IBF Youth junior middle title October 5 in Belgrade, Serbia. Bogdan Mitic, Gogi Knezevic and Stefan Stevanovic make up the undercard.
French bantam Jerome Arnould, badly wasted by WBA king Wladimir Sidorenko last time out, returns to action October 27 on the undercard Osei Bonsu vs Mouchi.
