“Baby” Joe Mesi fighting mad

By Boxing Press October 5th, 2007 All Press Releases

Former world No. 1 heavyweight contender “Baby” Joe Mesi (35-0, 28 KOs) has angrily responded to disparaging remarks made by his October 12th opponent, Shannon Miller (15-3, 9 KOs).

Mesi-Miller headlines “Clash of the Titans,” promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc., in the 10-round main event for the vacant WBC USNBC heavyweight title at Twin River Events Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

“I don’t know why he said the things he said but he’s going to pay for it in the ring,” Mesi said. “He made some stupid comments that I took personally, like I should be walking around wearing a helmet. I know what I’m doing and I wouldn’t risk myself. He needs to build up his courage and confidence anyway possible and he chose this way. He should know better. I don’t know how bright Shannon Miller is or how far he went in school. I was on the National Dean’s List and the National Honor’s Society in college, in case he wants to compare brains. My advice to Shannon Miller is, before October 12th start by practicing the phrase, Would you like French fries with that order, Miss?

“Shannon is not even close to being in my league. At the end of our fight, he’s going to be forced into retirement. I’m not the one who is going to have to think about retiring. He’s probably trying to use everything he can, but he’s not the same caliber of fighter as me, not even close. This very well could be his last fight; I’m going to take it out on him October 12th.”
“Clash of the Titans,” part of “The Budweiser Night at the Fights” series at Twin River, will be taped live and air Saturday night, October 13 starting at 9:30 PM/ET on by CN8, The Comcast Network as well as Cox Sports Television.
