Brian Halquist Promotions Announces 2008 Boxing Schedule
By Boxing Press October 9th, 2007 All Press ReleasesThe Emerald Queen Casino has announced their 2008 Boxing dates for the highly successful Battle at the Boat Boxing Series. It will be the 12th year that The Puyallup Tribe of Indians has teamed with boxing promoter Brian Halquist Productions.
“We couldn’t be more proud and humbled that we are in our 12th year working with The Emerald Queen Casino and The Puyallup Tribe of Indians,” said promoter Brian Halquist. “We started the series in the big circus tent when the casino was on the Tide Flats at the River Boat. We have come such a long way.”
The series reached new heights this year as The Emerald Queen Casino and Brian Halquist Productions saw ESPN come to town in January as The Contender - Season 2 star Walter Wright, a BHP signed fighter fought the main event.
The series also had HBO Boxing - After Dark in town in July for the WBC Super Welterweight World Title Fight featuring Vernon Forrest and Carlos Baldomir.
This was followed by Showtime’s successful Shobox series that showcased undefeated Russian Victor Oganov (26-1, 26KOs) being upset by Columbian slugger Fulgencio Zuniga (20-2,16KOs).
There are two fights remaining on the schedule for this year, another Shobox fight, that will feature a12 round IBF Heavyweight Title Eliminator between Calvin “The Boxing Banker” Brock of Charlotte, NC (31-1, 23 KOs) and “Fast” Eddie Chambers of Philadelphia, PA (29-0, 16KOs). Rounding off the year will be Battle at the Boat 61.
“This has been an incredible year for Professional Boxing in the Pacific Northwest” said Halquist. “The fights we’ve had on TV and off have by far been greater than we ever imagined when we started at the beginning of the year. Our plan is to keep giving the NW Boxing fan the best shows we can and our plans for 2008 already include some huge fights."
