Promoters Art Pelullo/Banner Promotions and Rodney Berman/Golden Gloves Promotions will present a sensational championship fight card on Monday, November 12, 2007, at Emperors Palace Casino in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, South Africa.
In a fight between former IBF and IBO featherweight world champions, Cassius Baloyi, 33-3-1 (18), of Johannesburg, South Africa, will battle Gairy St. Clair, 38-4-2 (17), of Sutherland, Australia, in a 12-round elimination bout to determine the IBF's No. 1 ranked junior lightweight mandatory world title challenger.
This fight is the rematch of their fight in July, 2006, in which Baloyi was making his first defense of the IBF featherweight title that he had won two months earlier. St. Clair won by 12 round unanimous decision to become the new world champion.
Baloyi, who will turn 33 years old a week before the fight, has come back with a TKO win and a technical draw in his two fights since then. He is ranked No. 4 by the IBF at junior lightweight.
32 year-old St. Clair, a native of Guyana based in Australia, lost the IBF featherweight title in his first title defense and most recent fight - in November, 2006, by 12 round split decision to Malcolm Klassen. St. Clair is currently the IBF's No. 5 ranked junior lightweight contender.
In the co-featured bout scheduled for 12 rounds, IBO featherweight world champion Thomas Mashaba, 19-2-4 with 11 knockouts, of Temba, South Africa, will make his fifth defense of the title against former IBF featherweight world champion Eric Aiken, 16-5-1 with 12 knockouts, of Washington, D.C.
