Irish middleweight sensation John Duddy notched another win last night as the 28 year old stopped Prince Arron in just the second round of a scheduled ten at National Stadium in Dublin.
Duddy, 22-0 (17), just had too much for the lanky youngster and pummeled the Englishman until Referee Emile Tiedt stepped in and called a halt to the action at 2:33 of the second.
The New York based native of Derry could next get the risky assignment of challenging WBC/WBO Champion Kelly Pavlik in Atlantic City in January.
Duddy's main UK middleweight rival, Matthew Macklin, 20-2 (16), was also on the bill at National Stadium and stopped Italian veteran Alessio Furlan, 19-10-5 (8), at 1:28 of the eighth.
Macklin's long awaited showdown with Duddy will probably have to wait as Team Duddy likely won't want to risk the Pavlik opportunity by fighting again beforehand.
Macklin's stablemate Matthew Hatton, 32-3-1 (13), was also in action and got a good tune up fight in by stopping Finnish import Samuli Leppiaho, 9-5-1 (1), after five rounds at welterweight.
Hatton will likely defend his IBF Intercontinental title on older brother Ricky's massive Las Vegas face off with Floyd Mayweather on December 8.
Light welter Paul McCloskey, 13-0 (6), stopped Polish veteran Dariusz Snarski, 20-27-2 (5), after five rounds and welter Stephen Haughian, 11-0 (5), finished Austria's Thomas Hengstberger in the first round.
