Carl Froch has invited Joe Calzaghe to be guest of honour at his British Super-Middleweight Title showdown against Robin Reid at the Nottingham Arena on Friday.
Undefated Froch takes on former Calzaghe opponent Reid on a Hennessy Sports show with title partners GoldenPalace.net that will be televised live by Sky Sports.
Froch is willing to be WBO-WBC-WBA champion Calzaghe’s next opponent rather than Bernard Hopkins.
The Nottingham boxer has also declared he will carry on Britain’s domination of the super-middleweight division after Calzaghe retires.
“I’m asking Joe to be guest of honour at the show on Friday after an impressive performance from him at the weekend,” said Froch.
“Then Joe can get a close up look at me and realise why I will give much more of a fight than a 42-year-old man like Hopkins. Me and Joe would be a blockbuster and generate a lot of interest and money.
“If he does go up to light-heavyweight, then I will clean up the vacant belts and get the world title fight I know I am ready for after beating Reid.
“I would be a more dangerous fight than Bernard Hopkins, which Joe is talking about now after beating Mikkel Kessler on points at the weekend.
“I am more dangerous and more hungry than Hopkins, and Calzaghe knows that. I am by far the biggest threat to Joe out there and it’s a far better fight for the paying public.”
