Boxing Fans From Around the Globe Encouraged to "Vote for Joe!"
Voting has opened for the BBC Wales Sports Personality 2007 and World Super-Middleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe is a hot favourite to win the award for a third time on Sunday 2nd December.
Calzaghe, who won the award last year and in 2001, is also up against stablemate and WBO World Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Maccarinelli, Manchester United's Ryan Giggs, cyclist Geraint Thomas and golfer Becky Brewerton.
In addition, Calzaghe is also a bookies favourite alongside Ricky Hatton and Lewis Hamilton to win the BBC Sports Personality 2007 to be held on Sunday 9 December.
The Newbridge star ended a superb year with a stunning victory over unbeaten Dane Mikkel Kessler at the Millennium Stadium in front of 50,000 fans to claim the WBC and WBA titles. Calzaghe is the only man in the history of the super-middleweight division to win every major title.
Undefeated in 44 fights, Calzaghe has reigned as WBO World Champion for a record 10 years since dethroning British great Chris Eubank and has gone on to make a division-record 21 successful defences, fourth on boxing's all-time list.
Recognised as one of the elite fighters in the world, Calzaghe is now in search of bigger challenges in the light-heavyweight division against American Bernard Hopkins or British rival Clinton Woods.
