When Risum Boxing’s David “Silent Danger” Kiilu (27-8-2, 14 KOs) fought former European champion Cyril Thomas for the WBF super featherweight title back in April 2007, it was a close, entertaining and very competitive fight. Both boxers had their moments, and the crowd of around 5000 spectators got their moneys worth at the Palais Des Sports I Saint Quentin, France.
Unfortunately Kiilu lost the decision by scores of 115-113, 115-113 and 116-113, but now he can be proud that his performance contributed to what the WBF is calling their “European Fight of the Year 2007”.
“We are very proud that David’s fight against Thomas has received this award, as the WBF are involved with so many good fights all over Europe each year, says Kiilu-manager Henrik Risum. "But it was a very good fight, and I think they are spot on when they give the award to this fight."
