The ongoing saga of WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe continues in 2005, but with more mystery than usual. Calzaghe is set to return to the ring on the 18th of next month and several venues are being reported, and no opponents have been declared as confirmed. |
It is unclear whether Calzaghe will fight in an arena in Newcastle in the North of England or whether he will fight in Ireland, a possibility that ha salso been suggested. On the opponent front, Calzaghe is rumored to have to engage his mandatory obligation against Germany's Mario Veit, but Calzaghe has already knocked Veit out in one round. The Welsh southpaw has had high-profile fights fall through in the past, most notably against the likes of Steve Collins and most recently, light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson.
