On the the best kept secrets of the boxing world gets back in the ring tonight as WBA 126 lb Champion Chris John puts his belt at risk at the Istora Bung Karno in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Challenging the lightning quick champion will be slugger Roinet Caballero, 22-7-1 (16), the reigning WBA Fedelatin titlist, who is riding an impressive 13 bout win streak and has not lost since 2004.
But the 24 year old Panamanian puncher will be hard pressed to get his 14th consecutive win against John, 40-0-1 (21), who in addition to holding the WBA belt for the last four years is a medal winning member of the Indonesian national Wushu martial arts team.
28 year old John, known as "The Dragon", has bested the likes of former world champions Juan Manuel Marquez, Derrick Gainer and Osamu Sato as well as future WBO Bantam boss Rantanachai Sor Vorapin among others.
While John doesn't pack knockout power at higher levels of competition, his high work rate coupled with Caballero's history of suffering five stoppages in his seven defeats could result in a late round victory for the tenured WBA kingpin.
Also on the bill, 25 year old local hot prospect Aleksander "The Black Horse" Bajawa, 36-1-2 (11), meets Thailand's Saddam Kietyongyuth, 13-0 (9), for a scheduled six round featherweight contest.
