The highly-anticipated heavyweight title unification bout between IBF Champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBO Champion Sultan Ibragimov is approaching fast. Time is running out for fight fans to get their tickets for the biggest heavyweight event in years, which takes place on Saturday, February 23rd at the ‘Mecca of Boxing’, New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
“This is exactly the type of fight that the heavyweight division needs and the first step for Wladimir to try to accomplish his goal of unifying all the titles,” said Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions. “I give a lot of credit to both Champions for putting their titles on the line, something that hasn’t happened since Holyfield/Lewis in 1999.”
With $1,000 seats already gone, it was announced today that $100 tickets have sold out as well.
“Who said boxing was dead,” asked Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing. “If you give fight fans a great fight card headlined by a historic Champion vs Champion bout, they will respond, and we’re ecstatic with ticket sales for this show. Not only do we have Ibragimov and Klitschko unifying the title in the main event, but John Duddy, Joe Greene, Peter Quillin and Johnathan Banks will also be in action on February 23rd. I can’t wait to hear the roar of the packed house on fight night.”
Klitschko vs Ibragimov, a 12 round heavyweight title unification bout, headlines a historic night of boxing presented by K2 Promotions and Seminole Warriors Boxing and will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing.
