Almost as soon as former IBF lightweight champion Julio Diaz relinquished his title, the IBF mandated that the vacant title will be contested between Leavander Johnson and Stefano Zoff. A date and site is yet to be announced for the fight but it will mark Johnson's fourth crack at a world title after three previously unsuccessful tries. Stefano Zoff, hailing from Italy currently holds the European lightweight crown and has briefly held a version of the lightweight championship.
