European Boxing News: Sam, Skelton, Solis, Mock, M’Baye, Ngoudjo

By Boxing Press March 4th, 2008 All Press Releases

By Per Ake Persson

Arena Box Promotion won today´s purse bids at the EBU office in Rome for the right to stage the fight for the vacant European Heavyweight title between Sinan Samil Sam and Matt Skelton with an offer for 147,250 Euro. Sports Network put in 143,500 Euro. Date and site is to be announced within 14 days.

Future heavyweight star Odlanier Solis will now face Cisse Salif March 14 in Munich after Bruce Seldon fell out due to legal problems. Headlining the show is ex-WBC super middle champ Markus Beyer.

Lolenga Mock and Mohamed Ali Ndiaye clash for the vacant European Union Super Middle title March 14 in Odense in a co-headliner to Anders Hugger vs Louis Azille. Mock held the European Union title until losing to Croatian Stepjan Bozic and was stripped of the belt. Ndiyae have been in line to fight for the vacant title a number of times by now but for one reason or another the scheduled shows have been postponed or cancelled.

Ndiyae is, by Italian sources, regarded as a very good prospect and Mock, at the veteran stage in his career, is in tough. Also on the bill is a fight for the female WBC International title at junior welter between Vinni Skovgaard and Belgian Zelda Tekin.

French paper l´Equipe writes that ex-WBA Junior Welter champ Souleyman M´Baye will face Canadian Herman Ngoudjo in a IBF eliminator. M´Baye is thus off the fight against Jose Soto that was scheduled for March 8

Spanish junior lightweight Paco Nohales take on Bulgarian Kirkor Kirkorian March 13 in Ripollet. Nohales is looking for a shot against European champ Sergey Gulyakevich later this year.

French bantam Jerome Arnould will face Venezuelan Oscar Chacin March 8 in Metz.
