In his first fight in hometown Aarhus in more than five years, Danish super middleweight Fawaz Nasir will be facing a tough challenge in former IBF Continental Africa champion Maneno “The Tanzanian Tyson” Oswald on the April 4 promotion at the NRGI Arena staged by Team Vester in cooperation with Risum Boxing.
Oswald, who is coming to Denmark with a fresh knockout victory, has won no less than 21 of his 27 victories inside the scheduled distance, and has, besides the IBF Continental Africa crown, also been holder of the East and Central Africa title, and challenged for the Commonwealth crown.
Many of his sixteen defeats have come against top-notch performers such as undefeated Hungarians Joszef Nagy and Karoly Balzsay, as well as current WBC # 2 Denis Inkin from Russia.
“I am going to Denmark to knock Nasir out! This is my chance to get on track for even bigger fights in Europe, and I don’t plan on wasting that chance”, says a confident “Tanzanian Tyson”, without seriously scarring the people behind the scenes in the Danes career.
Manager Henrik Risum, who handles Nasir in cooperation with Fight Production in Germany, is aware of the risks in fighting someone as dangerous as Oswald, but he feels his charge can do what needs to be done:
“There is no doubt that Oswald will be Fawaz toughest opponent so far in his career if you look away from his two title fights last year. And there is no doubt that Oswald is the hardest puncher that Fawaz has ever faced, but my guy hits hard too, and I am sure this will be an excellent fight in every way. If Fawaz beats Oswald he will once again be ready to fight for titles, so its worth the risk”, says Risum.
The Aarhus bill will also feature one of Denmark’s brightest prospects, super featherweight Kim Poulsen, and a cracking encounter between former world title challenger Allan Vester and reigning African champion Hasan “The Hitman” Saku, as well as at least one more professional fight, amateur bouts, Kickboxing and performances by some of the countries leading rap performers.
Tickets can be purchased via www.billetnet.dk and www.vester-boxing.dk
