On Saturday, April 5, 2008, promoter Jamie Sanigar presents a night of fine Welsh boxing topped by an International Masters Bantamweight clash between Matthew Edmonds and Eugene Heagney as well as the greatly anticipated return of Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Jamie Arthur at Newport Centre in Newport, Wales.
Local hero Edmonds is coming off an impressive Commonwealth title bid against one of the top pure boxers in the UK, Jason Booth, in which he pushed the highly decorated Nottingham man to the limit before faltering from exhaustion in the ninth frame.
Top rated Irishman Heagny has vowed to bring the belt back home with him but the Yorkshire based sharpshooter must first overcome a highly partisan hometown audience and the high pressure attacking style of Edmonds.
Super featherweight Jamie Arthur walked away with Gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games but after two losses followed his initial nine professional victories, the Cwmbran stylist walked away from the boxing ring in 2005.
Over two and a half years later, the slickly skilled 28 year old is bent on gaining revenge and begins his resurgence on this bill with an opponent to be announced.
Rounding out the card is undefeated light welter Gary Buckland, welterweight Jamie Way, featherweight Rob Turley and middleweight James Evans, who will be making his professional debut.
Jamie Sanigar presents the International Masters Bantamweight Title clash between Matthew Edmonds and Eugene Heagny, also featuring the return of Jamie Arthur with full support bill, on Saturday, 5 April, 2008 at Newport Centre in Newport, Wales. Doors open at 7:30PM, first bell at 8:00PM.
Tickets are priced at £25 Unreserved and £50-£60 for Corporate Hospitality seating, available on the Box Office 01633 656757. VIP Corporate Hospitality packages are available by calling 0117 949 6699.
