Impact Boxing: Scott Miller Relishing South Shields Away Day

By Boxing Press March 19th, 2008 All Press Releases

Stokeʼs novice welterweight, Scott Miller, will make the journey to South Shields on Thursday for his first pro fight outside the Potteries. Miller, victorious in his first two starts in the professional code, will face 22 year old Chris Mullen in his home town. The contest will represent Millerʼs second outing in three weeks.

Mullen has won his first three professional bouts including a narrow six round points victory over Millerʼs Chester based teammate Chris Goodwin in what was a debut fight for both boxers. Miller scored a shutout points victory over the seasoned veteran Karl Taylor in his own debut last year and most recently stopped Craig Tombs in the final round at the Kings Hall at the beginning of March.

In what looks like a genuine 50/50 match, Miller will need to live up to his ʽRelentlessʼ tag if he is to overcome the cultured Mullen on his home ground. The conflicting of styles of the two men promises to set up a typical fighter against boxer clash.

"Iʼm glad to be out again so quickly after my last fight," said Miller. "When I turned professional I said that I wanted to be kept busy and that I didnʼt mind fighting anywhere.

"I know I have a lot to learn as a professional and the best way to get the experience is in the ring. Win, lose or draw on Thursday night I will gain from the experience and it will help make me a better boxer which is what I want.

"Itʼs a shame that itʼs so far away from Stoke because I have a good following and most of my fans wonʼt be able to make it. I will be fighting in Stoke again in May, I hope, and I promise my fans that Iʼll keep trying to thrill them."
