On Saturday night at the International Arena, in Cardiff, Wales, Joe Calzaghe told Setanta reporters that he was “very excited about the fight [against Hopkins]…I’m really looking forward to it.
“I have to go over there and decisively beat him - I have to make sure it’s not a close fight and I honestly believe that I will dominate over Bernard Hopkins and that’s my plan.
“I’ll train the same way - back home at Newbridge, go over to Vegas two weeks before the fight, keep myself focussed and away from the hustle and bustle of the strip and then go in there and take this guys head off!”
When quizzed about the different weight, Calzaghe was unphased; “There’s only 7 lb difference between super middleweight and light heavyweight and my natural weight is 14 stone plus, so I’m just losing a stone and a half not two stone and I believe it will be a benefit to me because I will have the speed and the punching power needed to shut this guy up!”
