Last night at the Scottish Exhibition Centre in Glasgow, Scotland, former British Champion Michael Gomez successfully defeated Baz Carey in a six round super featherweight contest.
Gomez's trainer Bobby Rimmer told SaddoBoxing this morning that “Michael boxed really well - he did great”.
Gomez, who was originally set to face Lee McAllister for a WBU title shot in Aberdeen - enjoyed a points win over Coventry man Carey.
“It gets him back in the ‘winning mode’ “ Rimmer continued, “and having being messed about over the last few months - he did well not to let all that take his focus off”.
Gomez fought on the Willie Limond vs. Martin Watson undercard in Glasgow. ”It was a good all-round show,” Rimmer added.
And despite having travelled back from Scotland in the early hours this morning as well as losing an hour with the clocks being adjusted, Bobby remained as jovial as ever!
He will be back ringside later today when young Jack Arnfield faces Billy Smith in a light middleweight contest at the Municipal Hall in Colne, Lancashire.
The Steve Woods/VIP Boxing promoted fight-card headlines with popular Manchester Boxer - Thomas McDonagh facing dangerous spoiler Yassine El Maachi of the Netherlands in a light middleweight contest.
