Raul Marquez - Bronco McKart

By Boxing Press April 2nd, 2008 All Press Releases

Former world junior middleweight champion Raul Marquez continued his middleweight resurrection last Saturday at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, scoring a ten round win over Bronco McKart.

It was Marquez’ 41st win as a pro and his sixth in a row since he began his comeback in 2006 after a two year absence from the sport. And by clearly beating a former world champion in McKart, the rejuvenated “El Diamante” has sent a statement to the middleweight division that he is ready to take on the best as soon as possible.”

“Raul continues to impress, and in beating Bronco McKart, he showed that he’s ready for anyone at 160 pounds,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing, Marquez’ promoter. “We’re putting the call out for all champions and top contenders in the middleweight division, and we’re ready for any of them.”

Currently ranked tenth in the world by the WBC, eighth by the WBA, and 14th by the WBO, Marquez (41-3, 29 KOs) is a native of Reynosa, Mexico, who now makes his home in Houston, Texas. A member of the 1992 US Olympic team, “El Diamante” duplicated his amateur success in the pros as he won the IBF junior middleweight title with a ninth round TKO of Anthony Stephens in 1997. He would defend the title twice before losing it to Yory Boy Campas later that year, but since then he has compiled a record of 13-2 with 1 no contest. Nine of those wins have come by knockout.

The Seminole Warriors Boxing Promotions team congratulates Raul Marquez on another big win.
